The Christian model is the only one which provides a logical basis for the humane treatment of animals, and it is the only system to adequately explain what all humans know deep down to be true. The Bible has a logical basis for expecting man to out behave the beasts. There is a huge gap which exists between man and animal and it is not so much biological as personal. We are made in God's image which manifests itself in the realm of linguistics, abstract thought and creative expression. More significant still, is the fact that mankind is morally accountable whereas animals never are. There are no immoral lions or unjust eagles, and there are no criminal trials when a wolf devours a chicken. Humans have never known such amoral freedom. C.S. Lewis has once described the peculiar relationship by saying of man, "we are composite creatures, rational animals, akin on one side to the angels, on the other to tomcats" (178).
The homosexual movement also fails to adequately justify their lifestyle through the evolutionary model. In terms of natural selection, their lifestyle is clearly a hopeless one, because there are no second generation homosexuals. They cannot thrive because they cannot reproduce. Perhaps then, they reject evolution and embrace creationism only to be confronted with the clear biblical mandates condemning such a lifestyle. Homosexuality is evolutionary inferior to heterosexuality because evolution (survival) is built on reproduction. Any subgroup which fails to reproduce fails to survive.
Perhaps evolution's most crowning achievement in the realm of social principle lies in the silly notion of tolerance. Tolerance, in essence, is built on the nonsensical assumption that there is no right way or wrong way, there are just different ways which should all be celebrated. Utter madness! We are not tolerant of what happened at Auschwitz. We are not tolerant of what happened at Columbine. We are not tolerant of what happened to James Byrd. Tolerance of injustice is damnable behavior. It is tolerance which allows us to turn a blind eye to the four thousand unborn children who are executed every day in this country, and it is tolerance which calls evil good. There is no evolutionary basis for condemning any form of injustice, period. Injustice ceases to be injustice and becomes instead the application of natural selection. From an evolutionary standpoint, those propagating "injustice" should be commended not condemned, for they are applying what this country celebrates in principle but rejects in practice.
The mechanism of evolution notwithstanding (it's an impossibility), it's essence is born out of a desire to somehow eliminate the restriction of a personal God. In the end, men can believe the impossible if believing the impossible frees them to live without guilt, responsibility or accountability. Of course, such freedom is a two-edged sword which cannot be swallowed. In opening the door to complete individual autonomy you open the door to lawlessness since lawlessness by definition ceases to exist. Unfortunately, most of American society has swallowed the evolution myth and simply assumes the evidence to be much more compelling than it actually is. For evidence to be compelling it must first exist and the simple truth is...it doesn't. Evolution stands on speculation that would be categorically rejected save for the fact that it opens the door to complete personal autonomy.
It is no wonder that the 20th century will go down as the bloodiest in all of history. Could a century devoted to the utter degradation of human dignity be any different? When Oliver Wendell Holmes says, "I see no reason for attributing to man a significance in kind different from that which belongs to a baboon or a grain of sand," it is no wonder that we are living in a world without hope and without accountability (Sproul 39). God help us as we move into the next century because society will fail if our government ever begins to consistently implement the policies which it endorses. The fabric of this country is woven with the strings of creation, and when strings are pulled out, the whole garment unravels.
