I want to focus on the second of the two greatest commandments. “Love your neighbor as yourself”. I feel that there is no better way to impact someone’s life than by showing how God’s love shines through us. I have only been a Christian for a few years and the biggest thing that grabbed my attention was how Christians treated each other. There was a deeper bond between Christian friends than I had with my friends, even my Christian friends. Some of the things I saw really made me realize there was something that my Christian friends had that I did not, things like love for one another, support, the way they greeted each other, honesty, and generosity. These are just a few of the many things that I wanted for my life. My Christian friends shared a love for each other which was deeper than I could grasp. I know now of course that their love was first founded in Christ and through him came that deeper love for one another. They also had support from each other, but also the support from God through the power of prayer. Prayer is such a powerful tool that Christians share. Christians can use prayer for many things: to praise God for who he is, his blessings and also for help. We as humans can not accomplish anything without God. That is something I realized I needed. I needed support from God to get through life. The most powerful example I see that Christians can use to show God’s love is how Christians greet each other. After I accepted Christ as my Lord and savior this is the one constant that everyone of my friends and relatives has commented on. My friends and relatives would see my friends and I greet one another with a warmth that they were amazed with. They could clearly see without a shadow of a doubt that our love for the people that we greeted were more than just friends. They could see the depth of our love for one another. They could see the joy we all shared. It is a joy knowing that we will be together in heaven forever.

As Christians we are looked at differently and that is a wonderful gift from God. We do not have to go out of our way to show God’s love. We just have to be ourselves and follow God. It is great if God has blessed us with the ability to share his word with others. Not all of us have that gift. People look at us and they want to see how we handle situations at work, at school, and in our daily routine. They are seeking the light of God even if they do not know it. All of us are given the gift of love. All we have to do to show others God’s love, is to show love for all people. We can use this gift by simply greeting other believers and non-believers alike and doing it with the love and kindness that we show our friends on a daily basis.

Some people have a hard time dealing with things or believing in something they can not see or touch. They need something tangible that that can touch or see and that is where our actions can play such a pivotal role in convincing people of the truth. Belief in God requires one thing and one things only: FAITH. God has given all of us the gift to share his word through our actions and interactions. All we have to do is use that gift. The most powerful way we can share God’s word with people is through our own actions. This will have the greatest impact on them. It will be the things they will remember the most. Treat everyone like Christ would, with LOVE, and people will run to HIM.
